Privacy Policy
Khaos Media ("we", "us") operates Khaos News. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, username, display name, date of birth, role, profile fields you choose to add (bio, links, avatar)
- Content you submit: articles, events, images, and other UGC
- Technical data: basic logs needed to run the site (e.g. IP address, browser type) — we do not use behavioural ad tracking
- Communications: emails you send us (e.g. reports, support)
Why we collect it
- To create and manage your account (including age eligibility)
- To publish and moderate community content
- To send transactional emails (sign-in, mentions, moderation alerts)
- To keep the platform secure and respond to reports
Minors & age
Accounts require users to be 16 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16 for registered accounts. Anyone may read public news without signing up.
We apply privacy-by-default: we collect only what we need, do not sell personal data, and do not profile minors for advertising.
Sharing
We use service providers (e.g. hosting, email) to operate Khaos News. We do not sell your personal information. Public profile fields and published content are visible to site visitors as you choose to share them.
Retention
We keep account data while your account is active. You may request deletion by contacting us. Some content may remain in backups for a limited period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. In Australia, contact the OAIC; in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. Contact us first and we will try to help.
